FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Electron Beam Welding LLC Principals Attend International Electron Beam Welding Conference

Buena Park, CA – April 3, 2012 – Larry Sato, President, and Robert Dlouhy, AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI), recently returned from Aachen, Germany where they attended the 2nd International Electron Beam Welding Conference (IEBW).

"The Conference"

The conference, sponsored by the American Welding Society (AWS), the International Institute of Welding (IIW) and the German Welding Society (DVS), brought together over 75 international attendees and saw the presentation of 40 papers on the state of electron beam welding and processing technology.

The IEBW was held on the campus of the RWTH Aachen University, Germany’s leading technical and engineering institution. Presenters included doctoral candidates from the RWTH School of Welding, which was also opened to attendees to tour. “We often search for potential employees in the United States with the technical exposure and education as seen in the programs provided by RWTH,” commented Sato, “but the level of cooperation between industry and academia to produce students knowledgeable in EBW is not common in our country. Attendance at this type of conference is one way to increase exposure and background in this specialized field of welding.”

“I heard presentations that provided methods and processes that I can immediately implement in the shop, as well as interesting extensions of the electron beam welding technology for the future,” said Dlouhy, CWI. “Networking with other participants gave us confidence and understanding that job shops are still a vital part of the EBW scene, and particularly that job shops in the United States are seeing a high level of difficulty and variety of electron beam welds,” Dlouhy indicated.

The four-day conference allowed many opportunities for discussion among the electron beam welding machine manufacturers, academia, national research laboratories, manufacturing companies and job shops, all specific to the field of EBW.
